We Can Dream Together Foundation supports an innovative training program for chefs at the Fu Hong Society of Macau in partnership with Melco. This initiative empowers chefs with various degrees of disabilities by providing them job opportunities in a restaurant operated by Fu Hong specifically for this purpose. Twice a month, experienced chefs from Melco visit this restaurant to offer hands-on training, which includes teaching new recipes to refresh the menu and providing essential guidance on food safety and operational procedures. Additionally, we facilitate visits for these talented chefs to professional kitchens at Melco properties, offering them invaluable exposure to high-paced professional culinary environments. This program not only enhances their culinary skills but also fosters a supportive environment where they can thrive professionally.

As an extension of this program, a specialized pastry and bakery course has been developed for mentally disabled students from Fu Hong’s Pou Lei Center. Led by Melco’s Executive Sous Chef, Pastry, Mr. Chu Lai, the course includes hands-on classes where students learn to create a variety of delicious treats, including cheesecake, cookies, churros, chocolate, and taiyaki. The primary goals are to enhance the professional skills of these students and to help the bubble tea shop at Fu Hong’s Pou Lei Center increase its revenue with a variety of enticing treats.

Testimonial

Joining the culinary training program has been a rewarding experience, allowing me to share my years of expertise with those who need it most. Working alongside chefs with disabilities has been eye-opening; their focus and dedication surpass that of many others, and their gratitude for learning even the simplest techniques is inspiring. This journey has taught me that there are many in our community who need these skills to achieve their life goals.

One of the most memorable moments was witnessing their unwavering determination, which was both surprising and inspiring. This program not only benefits the participants but also has the potential to enrich the broader community. I encourage other chefs to participate in such training programs, as sharing our skills can provide invaluable opportunities for others to thrive.
